Jason L. Mays is a versatile litigator who focuses on complex commercial litigation and white-collar criminal defense. On the civil side of his practice, he often represents individuals and entities in business disputes that involve allegations of fraud, trade-secret misappropriation, deceptive and unfair trade practices, and other torts, as well as disputes of a more personal nature that involve claims of defamation, invasion of privacy, and other forms of harassing conduct. Jason also routinely defends clients in actions or investigations by the Department of Justice, Securities and Exchange Commission, and other enforcement agencies.

In recent years, Jason has become a go-to advocate for high-profile influencers, entertainers, and entrepreneurs. That is because he is particularly adept at implementing multifaceted legal strategies that are tailored for those who carry out their lives in the public eye. He is known for his unique ability to provide effective, results-driven advocacy that is equally sensitive to his clients' out-of-court objectives, which includes protecting their hard-earned reputations and brands.

Despite a track record of litigation success, Jason's default priority is finding ways to make his clients' controversies go away as quickly and efficiently as possible, consistent with their objectives. To that end, over the course of his career, many of his shortest engagements are the ones of which he is proudest—not because he found a way to do less work and spend more time with his wife, Leslie, and his dog, Ted, but because in those instances he was able to help his clients find a resolution at an early stage, allowing them to get on with their lives and avoid the headache, expense, and uncertainty of prolonged litigation.

Prior to founding NMFA, Jason was a partner at Marcus Neiman Rashbaum & Pineiro LLP. He spent the first chapter of his career in the Miami office of the international law firm Hogan Lovells US LLP, where he focused on high-stakes international arbitration and litigation matters, often representing Fortune 500 companies in the engineering, construction, energy, and mining sectors. Early in his career, Jason also clerked for United States District Court Judge Paul C. Huck on the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
